Since the end of the samurai era, Japanese swords have become works of art in modern times.

This swordsmithing technique is also applied to making high-quality kitchen knives in Japan.

Here at the Kikyo Hayamitsu Japanese Sword Factory in Hyogo Prefecture, visitors can observe the making of Japanese swords, as well as the making of small swords using tamahagane, an essential material for making Japanese swords.

Visitors can also have the option of making their own small knife (kogatana) using tamahagane.

Personalized engraving is also available as an option to create an one-of-a-kind kogatana. Would you like to give it a try?
